UNCT Strategic Planning in Maldives
In December 2009, InterWorks Partner Charles Dufresne served as the lead facilitator for the United Nations Country Team UNDAF-Maldives strategic prioritization retreat. In addition to reflecting on national development priorities, participants discussed the United Nations’ (UN) comparative advantage as a development partner in the Maldives, identified priority areas for UN involvement and drafted strategic UNDAF outcome statements. Over 100 participants attended this meeting, including heads-of-agencies and programme officers representing the United Nations agencies in the country, international partners such as USAID and national partners including the Ministry of Finance.
Charles has been leading such retreats for UNCTs since 2003 in Nicaragua, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador Bosnia Herzegovina, Uruguay, Peru, Kazakhstan and Jordan. He has also served as the lead facilitator for regional UNDAF Training-of-Trainers in Panama, Thailand and Egypt.
