InterWorks facilitated an Emergency and Disaster Management Workshop from 13 – 17 November 2006 in New Delhi, India dealing with refugee emergency and natural disaster management. Working with UNHCR eCentre and The National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), the approach was designed to share information and build an “informational bridge” between UNHCR’s body of experience and capabilities in international refugee emergency management situations and that of the natural disaster management community in India and the region. Most of the participants were senior government officials with responsibilities for disaster response in their respective countries (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal).
The curriculum was very well balanced, content was adequate, and faculty very competent.
