InterWorks led an emergency management workshop for NGO partners in the Asia-Pacific region in Manila from 11 to 15 June 2012. The aim of the event was to strengthen the capacity of NGO partners to respond to humanitarian emergencies, while reinforcing UNHCR’s partnership with NGOs in the region. The initiative also provided a forum for NGO partners to present case studies from the field and make recommendations for further strengthening alliances in the emergency management context. Participants represented 34 different NGOs from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Tonga.
