Agneta M Johannsen
has provided her expertise in peacebuilding, writing and training most recently to InterWorks in 2005/2006 as a researcher, author and editor for the JICA Handbook for Transition Assistance. She also developed training materials accompanying the handbook and co-facilitated the pilot workshop for this book. Now a professional consultant, she has over 16 years of experience with humanitarian organizations in the areas of peacebuilding, international conflict resolution, refugee and displaced persons and inter-ethnic relations. Working over nine years with WSP International (successor to the War-torn Societies Project of the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development) in Geneva, Switzerland, Agneta helped the organisation grow from a pilot project to a self-standing organisation through three core functions: as a Research, Lessons and Evaluation Specialist, a Senior Programme Manager with responsibilities for the Somali Programme and a Political Affairs/Donor Relations Officer. Prior to her work with WSP International, Agneta worked on ethnic conflict and refugee issues for a number of years with an NGO, an OSCE affiliate and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and as a development worker in Namibia. She is also currently a Psychological Counselor and provides individual and couples counseling using both Existential and Cognitive-Behavioural approaches. Combining her interests in International Relations, Psychology and Anthropology, Agneta’s professional orientation now focuses on Research, Analysis, and Evaluation of Post-conflict/Crisis Situations, Cross-cultural Communication and Learning, and Trauma Response.
