Scoping Assessment: Disaster preparedness and response simulations in Nepal

USAID/DAI Tayar Nepal | Jan-Feb 2020

In early 2020, Interworks conducted a scoping assessment in Nepal to determine the priorities, objectives and strategy for a simulation capacity building component of the Tayar Nepal Project.

Tayar Nepal is USAID’s flagship disaster preparedness and response program for Nepal being implemented by DAI. For this scoping assessment, InterWorks applied rapid appraisal methods to collect and analyze information from both a review of relevant documents and meetings in Kathmandu and in Bhimeshwor municipality, with key informants, focus groups and stakeholders including over 40 representatives from government agencies, the Nepali Red Cross, Nepali NGOs, IFRC, IOM, WFP, UN RCO and Tayar Nepal project.
