Situational Emergency Training (SET)

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) | Dec 2019

InterWorks designed and facilitated a Situational Emergency Training (SET) for Eastern DRC from 3-6 December in Gisenyi, République du Rwanda.

The SET was designed to strengthen the knowledge base of the participants and bolster the level of preparedness of UNHCR and it’s NGO partners, UN partners, and collaborative government agencies, to more effectively respond to the ongoing IDP emergency. Beyond the provision of relevant tools, the SET allowed participants to better understand their respective roles within the context of a coordinated response to the IDP emergency and the role and capacity of UNHCR in addressing it. Additionally, the SET was to provide an opportunity to for participants to view and understand the new UNHCR IDP policy on the engagement of IDPs.

The workshop was presented in French as well as the materials provided. The training group was comprised of up to 33 participants (of which 4 served as resource persons or session facilitators) who participated in various sessions with the majority of participants present throughout the four days.

Excellent workshop. Very well prepared excellent facilitation which was flexible and preceptive in adapting to earlier sessions.
