InterWorks facilitated a half-day interactive workshop for UNHCR staff in Thailand. The primary goal of the event was to increase understanding of preparedness actions for humanitarian responses. The group participated in a table-top simulation that illustrated the challenges of coordinating a humanitarian response and discussed lessons learned following the exercise. Participants also reviewed the UNHCR Preparedness Package for Refugee Emergencies (PPRE) and practiced prioritizing emergency scenarios using risk analysis for different types of hazards. Additionally, participants were introduced to the IASC “Emergency Response Preparedness (ERP)” guidelines, which follow the same approach and are used for natural disaster preparedness actions.
